Our Values
It's not just about what we do but how we do it. That's what makes the difference. Below are some of our viewpoints and values that guide our work:
Independence is a right, not a privilege
People with disabilities are Americans just like everyone else and will be treated with all rights afforded to all Americans at every ability level
People come first
Our business is built on people, the ones we serve and the ones who serve others.
We will always approach individuals with a person-centered approach, always listening in whatever way an individual is able to communicate and adjust our approach to what is important to and important for the individual.
The more you know the more you grow
Strive for Independence reminds individuals that mistakes are okay and if anything are rewarded! Learning is what’s important, not what happened in the past. If an individual is doing their best that is all we ask for.
We will support our individuals by providing services that will help minimize risks while they strive to do things, succeed or fail, to better themselves and their community.
Doing the right thing
We are all human and make mistakes, but ethical choices will always be the focus. As a company we will always stay focused on compliance with all state and federal requirements as well as stay guided by our principles as an organization
Perspectives on support
Whether your young and have a disability or older and having trouble with independent living we approach our supports in a consistent way
- provided with the person in focus first to provide more freedoms and choices in a respectful way
- Understand that getting support is hard at times and in the past may have even been traumatic or negative
- With the intent to empower the individual so they may at some point not have to rely as heavily on paid supports
- If supports will be needed long term it will be done in a way that affords the most freedom and choice for the individual
-
If supports need to be increased due to a change in the needs of an individual ensure the whole person is considered including where they want to live, with whom, and how they want to spend their time regardless of ability
